It's official: The Boston Globe is now a parody of itself

If you were controlling the content on a major news website, say Boston.com, what would you put "above the fold" today? What would you say are the most important or compelling news stories today?Coo coo. Coo coo.

A report from Fort Myers on the first day of Red Sox spring training, you say? No, that is incorrect. You obviously don't understand what Bostonians are interested in.

The uprising in Libya, you say? You're getting warmer. That belongs on the front page, but way down at the bottom. It's not pressing enough to be above the fold.

The blockbuster Celtics trade? Rising gas prices? The impending government shutdown?  Nope.  Give up?

The answer is gay line dancing.  Yes, at this very moment on Boston.com, there is a photo at the very top left showing two lesbians line dancing. The title is "Local cheap, creative dates" and the text says "Line dancing is one of several ways to have fun around town without breaking your budget".

Clicking through brings you to this page where the Globe suggests you "dance the night away at this weekly GBLT-friendly hootenanny".

Um... ya.

I mistakenly thought that people turned to Boston.com/The Boston Globe in search of news. Apparently people go there in search of indoctrination and to locate "weekly GBLT-friendly hootenannys".

I stand corrected.

Has Boston.com been hacked or have they decided that nobody is reading anymore?
